Jami lived and wrote in Herat during the Timurid period, when Persian-speaking courts across Central Asia supported poets, artists, and scholars. His works were widely copied and circulated as far as the Ottoman Empire and Mughal India.

Persian Sufi poet and scholar born in 1414 in Jam, in present-day Afghanistan, considered the last great classical poet of the Persian tradition. His works, including the Haft Awrang (Seven Thrones), blend Sufi mysticism with lyric beauty and philosophical depth.
