Turkmen military commander and poet born around 1504 in Badakhshan in present-day Afghanistan, who served as regent of the Mughal Empire during Akbar's early reign and was crucial in consolidating Mughal power after the death of Humayun. He wrote poetry in Persian, Turkish, and Hindi.
