Tamil poet, journalist, and nationalist who is considered the father of modern Tamil literature. His songs and poems, written in the early 20th century, advocated for Indian independence, women's liberation, and social equality, challenging caste and gender oppression. He published the nationalist journal India and faced British colonial persecution for his work.
