Ancient Greek playwright who lived approximately 525–456 BCE and is considered the father of tragedy. He fought at the Battle of Marathon and wrote approximately 90 plays, of which only seven survive. The Oresteia, his only complete trilogy, explores justice, revenge, and civilization.
