Desmond Tutu
Theologian
South African Anglican bishop and theologian who chaired the Truth and Reconciliation Commission following the end of apartheid. He received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984 for his nonviolent opposition to apartheid, and was known internationally for his theology of Ubuntu and his advocacy for human rights.
